Simple Chicken Nuggets
Chicken Nuggets may be one of my favourite fast-food items. And while I still enjoy the fast-food versions on occasion, I wanted to find a way to enjoy them at home! So cue this recipe that uses ingredients you may already have. And best of all, there’s no raw meat involved in this recipe!
Simple Chicken Nuggets Recipe
This recipe makes about 22 1-inch wide nuggets.
Ingredients
2 375ml cans of cooked chicken (I’ve found that canned chicken varies in amounts, so just try and get as close to ml of chicken as possible! A little more or less won’t hurt)
2 tbsp shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or marble works)
1 large egg
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper powder (optional)
1/2 tsp ground pepper
Optional: Cooking oil spray
Instructions
Pre-heat your oven to 425 degrees and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
Drain the water from the cans of chicken. The less water the better!
Combine all the ingredients in a bowl until well ingredients are evenly distributed.
Scoop out the chicken using a small cookie scooper and place on your prepared baking sheet. Please each nugget a few centimeters apart from each other.
Flatten and shape the nuggets with your hands into your desired nugget shape.
Optional: Spray your nuggets with a bit of cooking oil.
Bake for a total of 30 minutes, flipping half-way through (bake for 15 minutes, flip the nuggets, and then bake for another 15 minutes)
Serve with your favourite dipping sauce!
I ate these nuggets with a side of cucumber salad and they were delicious! The seasoning was great and the right amount of baking gave the nuggets a nice crunch. My husband said that they tasted close to the real thing!
Let me know if you enjoy nuggets just as much as I do!
Until next time,
Nicole
