Day Thirty - Moss
Monday evening after work, Teddy comes through the front door with his hands full of grocery bags. We did our grocery shopping already earlier in the week so I’m puzzled by what he’s chosen to buy.
Calvin rushes over and inspects the bags.
“Is this all candy?” he asks.
“Did you buy a bunch of candy?” I ask him too, shocked by Calvin’s question.
“I sure did! We need to give the trick or treaters candy when they come to visit us.”
I don’t know how to get it through to Teddy that we more than likely won’t be having any visitors. Most people are afraid of the ghosts here, even if they can’t see them. Teddy’s doesn’t seem to understand that most people can’t just accept the existence of ghosts like he can.
So I smile at him and we unload all of the candy at the front desk, being careful not disturb the fake moss that’s been spread all over the desk. Teddy and Mary took it upon themselves to make a tiny graveyard on my desk which Lavender has been enjoying playing with all day.
I haven’t seen Mrs Thompson all day now that I think about it. She must be off helping her grandchildren with last minute Halloween preparation.
I don’t know what Halloween will bring tomorrow, but Teddy’s excitement for it almost makes me look forward to it.
